“Persepolis” connects me to the First Amendment. The graphic novel is a beautiful, sad, and sometimes funny depiction of the Islamic Revolution. It’s a sobering reminder of how drastically religious extremism and theocracy can transform everyday freedoms like speech, press and assembly.
